Hungarian opposition’s joint stance in Committee of Regions

As members of the European Committee of the Regions, our job is to communicate the messages of the municipalities towards the European Union’s institutions. The government's latest decisions put many Hungarian local councils in dire straits, and we still have to face the economic ramifications of the Covid-19 crisis. We believe it is our duty to call the public’s attention to the negative processes taking place in Hungary, due to which local municipalities are being deprived of most of their rights, in utter contradiction with the principle of subsidiarity. Consequently, we sent a letter yesterday to President of the Committee of the Regions Apostolos Tzitzikostas and the parliamentary groups working in the Committee of the Regions.
