Clashes in Gaza: conflict legitimized by irresponsible Hungarian foreign affairs ministry

Jobbik Movement for a Better Hungary expresses its concerns about the clashes breaking out and claiming people’s lives after the relocation of the US Embassy in Israel.

Our position is that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict may only be settled by political means through a two-state solution in line with international law. We are convinced that the only way to serve the interests of all the people living in the region is to adopt the two-state solution which respects the rights for self-governance and independence of both the Israeli and the Palestinian side.

Unfortunately, the opportunity for a peaceful settlement has been severely damaged by the relocation of the US Embassy, as it is shown by the clashes breaking out at the border of the Gaza Strip, claiming over 50 lives and leaving 2400 wounded behind. In accordance with the majority of EU member states, Jobbik condemns the policy instigating tensions.

We find it unacceptable that the “freedom fighter” Hungarian foreign affairs ministry, led by Péter Szíjjártó, has once again found the most cynical response and legitimized the relocation of the embassy, thus contradicting the other European countries. We hope that when it comes to assuming responsibility for the damages and the increased security risk caused to Hungary by the inconsistent and irresponsible foreign policy, Péter Szíjjártó will be just as courageous as at the times when he allegedly “gives NATO foreign ministers a piece of his mind”.
