Jobbik welcomes lifting of sanctions against Iran

Jobbik Movement for a Better Hungary welcomes the news that Western countries are finally ready to lift anti-Iran sanctions. We are convinced that this is a major step by the United States of America and the European Union, not only because Iran is an important business and trade partner for Hungary and connected to us by numerous cultural ties, but also because it will greatly contribute to the improvement of Middle East stability. We also urge lifting all the remaining restrictions as soon as possible.

Iran is a key state of the Middle East region due to its economic weight as well as its diplomatic experience and military force, which is essential for the struggle against global terrorism and the Islamic State. That is why Western powers should have long ago abandoned their hypocritical anti-Iran policy and restrictions that have been in force ever since the Islamic revolution of 1979 when the Persian state began to walk an independent path contrary to the interests of the West and some of its Middle Eastern allies.

We find it unfortunate that the Hungarian government and the foreign ministry failed to voice its concerns about the anti-Iran sanctions while various terrorist organizations kept killing masses of innocent civilians in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Yemen and Libya, enjoying the financial support of the West's allies in the meantime.

Jobbik hopes that the lifting of sanctions will mark the beginning of a new era in the history of Iran and the Middle East and lead to the establishment of a more just world order.
